The Present is a series of paintings I made during a residency in May 2026, working at Ekely, Edward Munch's studio in Oslo.
On arrival I found that a large pear tree planted by Munch was in bud – it filled the studio window with potential. Over the course of the calendar month the tree came into and out of flower, focusing my attention on the present - and the gift of this month at Ekely.
